Sabah’s David Sakai Targets International Bodybuilding Success

PENAMPANG: Bodybuilding coach Meilaura Dora Jimmy, who recently shone at the Asia Gold competition, has expressed strong confidence in her protégé, David Sakai of Kampung Kiranau, Penampang, as he sets his sights on the international stage.

Meilaura, who clinched Gold in the Women’s Bodybuilding Up to 55kg category, secured the Most Improved Athlete Award and placed fifth in Mixed Pairs, said David’s previous achievements have already proven his potential to bring further glory to Sabah and Malaysia.

Preparations are now under way for next year’s SEA Championships, where David is expected to raise his performance and improve on his current ranking. Meilaura is convinced that with discipline, hard work and determination, he has a realistic chance of qualifying for the prestigious Asian Games.

“The journey will not be easy, but with the unwavering support of the Malaysia Bodybuilding Federation, Sabah State Sports Council, the Sabah Bodybuilding Association, his family, and the sporting community, I believe David is capable of achieving international success,” she said.
