KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Environmental Protection Association (SEPA) welcomes the assurance from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor that his administration has not issued any mining licenses.
“The issuance of mining permits involves rigorous Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scrutiny, and SEPA participates in all EIA meetings organized by the Environment Protection Department (EPD). We are pleased to note that many robust discussions have taken place so far,” said Alexander Yee, president of SEPA.
“The EPD has demonstrated transparency and openness to suggestions, and we look forward to continuing this positive working relationship.”
Sabah's leaders have a vital responsibility to safeguard the state’s natural heritage, acting as custodians for future generations.
This requires the collective support of all elected representatives to ensure that these invaluable resources are protected and preserved for the long-term benefit of all.
Established on November 12, 1983, SEPA is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness, education, and conservation for the people of Sabah.
