PENAMPANG: An official handover of 800 food packages for flood and landslide victims, as well as frontline personnel, was held on Saturday at the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD).
The contribution was made on behalf of the Chairperson of the 2025 Sabah State-level Malaysia Day Celebration Organising Committee, Datuk Seri Christina Liew, who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment. She was represented by the Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary II, Datin Dr Cleopatra @ Clare Asing.
“This contribution is an initiative by the State Government to demonstrate its concern and solidarity with communities affected by natural disasters. The distribution of food aid is intended to ease the burden faced by victims while also recognising the dedication of frontline workers who continue to serve tirelessly for the safety and well-being of the people,” the Organising Committee said in a statement on Sunday.
Dr Cleopatra, accompanied by Ministry officials, presented the aid to the Deputy President of the Penampang District Council, Noemi Dyena John Tren, who received it on behalf of the Disaster Relief Centre.
