KOTA KINABALU: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) is set to embark on a ‘Sabah First Tour’ in conjunction with its upcoming divisional-level party convention.
UPKO Information Chief, Dr Peter Naintin, said he would be presenting the proposal at the UPKO Supreme Council meeting scheduled for tomorrow, 5 November.
According to him, the tour aims to explain the party’s stance on the recent Kota Kinabalu High Court ruling regarding the judicial review on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, initiated by the Sabah Law Society (SLS).
“UPKO respects and welcomes the Kota Kinabalu High Court’s decision affirming Sabah’s 40 per cent entitlement as provided under Article 112C of the Federal Constitution."
“The UPKO leadership and members stand firmly behind the position of President Datuk Ewon Benedick, who has expressed his willingness to resign from the Federal Cabinet should the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) decide to appeal against the ruling."
“UPKO must also take part in the upcoming Sabah state election in the spirit of Sabah First, as enshrined in the party’s Constitution, which calls for the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the safeguarding of Sabah’s constitutional rights,” he added.
