KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian State Assemblyman (Adun) Datuk Ewon Benedick has said that the significant victory and large majority obtained in the recent State Election (PRN) do not belong to him alone, but to the people of Kadamaian who entrusted him with a mandate to continue development and reforms in the constituency.
The Deputy Chief Minister III, who is also Sabah’s Minister of Industry, Entrepreneur, and Transport, said the overwhelming majority sent a clear message that the people of Kadamaian want change, improved administration, and better-planned development projects.
“This victory is not Ewon Benedick’s alone; it is a shared victory for all of us. This is the victory of the people of Kadamaian."

“The strong mandate given comes with the responsibility to ensure the successful implementation of the Kadamaian Development Master Plan,” he said when speaking at the Kadamaian Election Machinery Appreciation Gathering held at Kadamaian Square here today.
Ewon also expressed his appreciation to the more than 11,000 people of Kadamaian who supported him in the recent election.
“Thank you for your support throughout the campaign period. This is no longer the time for campaigning; it is the time to unite, to work together, and to strengthen our partnerships for the development of Kadamaian."

“Our primary responsibility is to fulfil the expectations of the 11,977 Kadamaian voters who have given us a strong mandate with a majority of 9,672. Such a large majority requires a new approach."
“The old ways have served us, but there is room for improvement because the people of Kadamaian want renewal. Therefore, the new administration under the Sabah First policy will begin here in Kadamaian,” he said.
Ewon announced that starting January 2026, the appointment of Village Heads and JKKK Chairpersons across Kadamaian will be conducted through a voting process.
“If the people can entrust their ADUN with a mandate, they should also have the right to decide who leads their villages. This is a major reform to promote transparency and administrative effectiveness,” he said.
He added that the two-year term will give villagers the opportunity to assess the performance of their local leadership and replace them if they fail to fulfil their entrusted roles and responsibilities.
Regarding ADUN allocations, he said every village will receive equal funding for the implementation of small-scale projects.
“Each JKKK will receive at least RM20,000 beginning next year to carry out village projects directly, without involving external contractors unless formally decided in a JKKK meeting.
“The JKKK must be the implementer of village projects, not merely observers. The people must know who carries out the projects and who is accountable for them,” he said.
On 18 December, Ewon will also meet all pastors or church representatives from across Kadamaian, as in previous years, to present contributions for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“As in previous years, we will present contributions to all churches in Kadamaian ahead of the festive season,” he said, adding that the Kadamaian Christmas and New Year Celebration will be held on 5 January 2026.
