Workshop on planting Dalai

KOTA BELUD: A workshop on planting the herb Job Tears locally known as Dalai was held at the community cultural hall today.

The event on Dalai Planting was organised by the Sabah Dalai Enthusiasts Community Association (KPDS)

During the event, a talk on the opportunities and potential of Dalai seeds as a sustainable craft material for community cultivation was expounded on.

Discussion was also about the draft Memorandum of Understing for contract farming with the Sayap community as a regular supplier of Dalai seeds to designers and entrepreneurs in Dalai-based crafts.

The 11 strong attendees also learnt about identifying the types (species) of Dalai fruit found in Kampung Sayap.

The briefing was delivered by Dr. Rosalyn Gelunu, President of the Sabah Dalai Enthusiasts Community Association (KPDS), who also serves as the chairperson of the organising committee for the Dalai Fashion Design Competition and Sabah Dalai Queen 2024.

The brief workshop was concluded by Special task officer Rizoh Bosorong, who represented Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick.
