KENINGAU: Efforts to promote sports and youth development in Bingkor continue to gain momentum with assistance of football jerseys.
Assistant Minister of Works and Bingkor State Assemblyman, Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin, contributed the official football jerseys to the local team, Deep Borneo.
The jerseys were presented on his behalf by Mohd Zaki Zakaria, a representative from Bingkor Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), to the team manager, Azmi Abel Ungkalis Bounding, in a recent ceremony.
Deep Borneo, based in Kampung Baru Bingkor, is known for its active participation in various local football tournaments. The team previously claimed victory in a tournament organised by the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Tenom Division in conjunction with last year’s Malaysia Day celebrations, held at Padang Pekan Melalap, Tenom.
Azmi conveyed his sincere appreciation toRobert for his continuous support and commitment to youth development.
“This jersey donation means a great deal to our team. It not only lifts the players’ spirits but also fosters team unity and a stronger sense of belonging among our members,” said Azmi.
He added that the discipline, teamwork, and solidarity nurtured through active involvement in sports such as football play a vital role in shaping the character of the younger generation.
This contribution reflects Robert’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth through sports, recognising it as a powerful vehicle for unity, social development, and community motivation, all in line with the broader vision of advancing Bingkor in every aspect.
