RANAU: Youth aged 18 and above are encouraged to verify their voter registration status in preparation for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), which is expected to be held later this year.
Yubidi Gompoyo, Political Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing, highlighted the importance of this action to garner strong support, thereby securing a greater victory for GRS in the upcoming election.
A win for GRS would ensure the continuation of development across Sabah, including in the Kundasang area.
He stressed the significance of political stability for sustainable development.
Yubidi made these remarks whilst representing Dr. Joachim at the launch of the Healthy and Safe Community Programme held in Kampung Pinawantai here on Friday (2 May).
The programme successfully brought together local residents and surrounding communities to enhance awareness of health and safety issues.
Organised by the Kampung Pinawantai Residents’ Association, in collaboration with the Kampung Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Pinawantai, the initiative was well received.
According to Yubidi, such programmes are highly valuable as they not only increase community knowledge of health and safety matters but also foster social cohesion among residents.
“Support from government agencies such as the Ranau Department of Health, the Ranau Fire and Rescue Department, and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Ranau is greatly appreciated. Their talks and guidance provide considerable benefit to the community,” he said.
Key activities included free health screenings and talks on disease prevention, fire safety, and measures to protect personal and community safety.
Yubidi also recommended that similar programmes be held regularly, incorporating additional activities such as mental health awareness workshops and initiatives to tackle social issues.
He urged the Kampung Pinawantai community and neighbouring areas to seize these opportunities and to endeavour to make their village a model of a healthy and safe community.
The organisers also expressed their appreciation for the food basket donations from the Kundasang State Assembly Office (DUN), which were distributed to those in need.
Furthermore, they called for funding support to enable the continuation of future community initiatives.
Yubidi extended his gratitude to the organisers for the invitation to officiate at the event.
