KUNDASANG: Kundasang Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam has reaffirmed the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government’s commitment to advancing youth development as a key pillar of Sabah’s future progress, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan.

He said various initiatives have been implemented and continue to be strengthened to enhance human capital development, ensuring that Sabah’s youths continue to move forward in multiple sectors.

“Numerous initiatives have been introduced to propel youths ahead in accordance with the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan.

“This is reflected through the State Government’s education assistance, which includes scholarships, student grants, education funds, supplies, and cash aid,” he said during an engagement session with youths at Kampung Dumpiring Bawah here on Friday.

Dr Joachim, who also serves as Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), said these educational aids are aimed at improving the quality of education in Sabah while ensuring that more local students can further their studies without financial obstacles.

During the event, Dr Joachim also received new PBS membership applications from Nazrul Mohamin and welcomed their inclusion into the party.

He added that beyond education, the GRS Government is also focused on improving youth well-being through social initiatives, including the Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) housing programme for newly married young couples.

“To support this, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor recently announced an additional 10 Rumah Mesra SMJ units in each State Assembly constituency starting next year, increasing the total to 50 units per constituency compared to 40 this year.

“This clearly demonstrates the GRS Government’s concern for the needs of youths, particularly young couples starting their own families,” he said.

Dr Joachim reiterated his readiness to continue existing development agendas and intensify post–17th State Election (PRN) efforts to ensure continued prosperity for the people of Kundasang.

Also present were PBS Kundasang Youth Chief Khairol Majide Kalimin and several local community leaders.

In addition to his visit to Kampung Dumpiring Bawah, Dr Joachim also received new PBS membership applications from residents of Kampung Patau.
