KOTA KINABALU: A total of 13 students from Sabah received education funding from the (ANGKASA Foundation) over the past year.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick , expressed his appreciation to (ANGKASA) for its continued commitment in providing education financing to students from the state.
He said all recipients are currently pursuing studies in various fields at several higher education institutions, including (UMS), , (IIUM), (UTeM), in Kota Kinabalu, as well as (UiTM).

“All of them are children of cooperative members, with funding ranging between RM8,400 and RM17,500 per student.
“The ANGKASA Foundation also provides interest-free education financing, which may be converted into scholarships, covering studies at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy levels within the country,” he said after receiving a courtesy call and briefing from a delegation of ANGKASA and its foundation at his office here today.
The delegation was led by Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah, Chairman of ANGKASA, and included Sabah ANGKASA State Committee Chairman Dr Zhamrie Gulamrasul, Sabah ANGKASA Manager Antony Barubui, as well as senior officers from ANGKASA and the ANGKASA Foundation.
Meanwhile, Ewon expressed support for the ANGKASA Foundation’s efforts to expand its education funding initiatives to benefit more children of cooperative members.
ANGKASA Foundation General Manager Haslinda Hj Ahmad, said the foundation plans to organise a Gala Dinner this November as a strategic platform to raise education funds.
She noted that hosting the event in Sabah aligns with efforts to broaden access to assistance for students in the state, while also strengthening collaboration networks with cooperatives and local strategic partners.
“This initiative will not affect opportunities for applicants from Peninsular Malaysia, as existing funding sources such as ANGKASA allocations, KWAPK, corporate contributions and government agencies will continue to focus on needs in the Peninsula,” she said.
She added that the effort builds on the launch of the education fund in October last year, which received encouraging support from cooperatives, agencies and the local community.
In October 2025, Ewon, who was then serving as Malaysia’s Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, launched the ANGKASA Foundation Education Fund for Sabah students.
“Building on this positive momentum, the ANGKASA Foundation intends to continue its efforts through the organisation of a gala dinner, with table sales serving as the primary fundraising mechanism.
“The event will also act as an intervention initiative to bridge gaps in access to education and increase the amount of funding channelled to students, particularly those from Sabah,” she said.
