PENAMPANG: In a heartfelt act of compassion and solidarity, Tengku Shamsulbhari Alhaj of Rumah Bendahara Selangor donated 200 food aid baskets to assist families affected by the recent floods and natural disasters that struck Penampang in early September.

Representing Tengku Shamsulbhari at the handover ceremony were Datuk Domas Lim, Special Function Officer of Rumah Bendahara Selangor, and Hamdan Jamin, Private Secretary to Tengku. The simple yet meaningful ceremony was hosted by the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD Penampang).

Each basket contained essential food items such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, canned sardines, instant noodles, Milo, biscuits, soy sauce, and a carton of mineral water, basic necessities meant to help ease the burden of families rebuilding after the disaster.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the local community were Noemi Dyana, Deputy President of the Penampang District Council, representing YB Datuk Ewon Benedick; Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, Deputy President of UPKO Malaysia; Penampang District Police Chief SP Sammy Newton; Carl Victor Moosom, Political Secretary to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives; and Alvin Lee, Treasurer of the Penampang Parliamentary Liaison Office.

In his message, Tengku Shamsulbhari Alhaj expressed hope that the contribution would bring some measure of relief to those affected and reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting humanitarian efforts in times of need.

Later in the day, a POLSEC-led tour was organised for Domas and his delegation to visit landslide-affected areas, including Kampung Madsiang, Pogunon, and Sarapung, where recovery efforts are still ongoing.

“This contribution symbolises unity and care in times of hardship. We stand together with the people of Penampang,” said Domas during the handover.
