KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that up to now, a total of 763 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have received the Enterprise 50 (E50) Award from 1997 to 2022.

He mentioned that out of this number, 67 MSMEs are currently listed on the Stock Exchange. "The Enterprise 50 (E50) Program is an award recognizing the top 50 MSMEs in our country, a government recognition through the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives that we hold once every two years.

"We hold it every two years because we want to maintain the quality of this award introduced since 1997. This year, we will open online registration for the E50 Award in line with the ESG practices we launched on February 5, namely the Guidelines for MSMEs," he said when met by reporters after launching the E50 Program here recently.

Ewon mentioned that among the eligibility criteria for companies to participate in the E50 Award are meeting the definition of MSMEs, obtaining a 4 and 5-star rating under the SCORE Program, not listed on Bursa Malaysia, and subsidiaries are not eligible if the parent company has participated.

He said that the benefits that companies receiving the E50 Award will obtain include being recognised as the top 50 MSMEs in Malaysia, branding as a prestigious company, and the company can use the E50 Logo.

"In addition, these MSMEs are also given priority in SME Corp programmes, including Business Matching sessions, and identified as potential candidates for listing on Bursa Malaysia," he said.

He mentioned that since the introduction of this award, a total of 2,225 MSMEs have participated in this program, and 763 companies have received the E50 award.
