SANDAKAN: The Sabah Society for the Blind (SSB) Sandakan Branch officially launched its Postal Appeal campaign at a ceremony attended by community leaders and supporters, with State Assemblyman for Sungai Manila, Hazzem Mubarak Musa, officiating the event.
In his speech, Hazzem expressed his sincere appreciation to the SSB Sandakan Branch for its continued commitment to safeguarding the welfare, skills development, and overall well-being of persons with visual disabilities.
He commended the organisation’s efforts in providing skills training, welfare assistance, and social activities, describing them as vital in enabling visually impaired individuals to live more independent and dignified lives.

The Postal Appeal initiative, he said, is an effective platform to encourage greater public participation and support. He expressed confidence that with the backing of the wider community, the private sector, and compassionate individuals, the organisation would be able to sustain and expand its programmes for the benefit of persons with visual impairments.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, carries great meaning and has the potential to change the life of someone in need,” he said.
As the elected representative for Sungai Manila, Hazzem reaffirmed his full support for the noble initiatives undertaken by the Sabah Society for the Blind, Sandakan Branch.

He also called on more parties to come forward to collaborate through financial contributions, professional expertise, and employment opportunities for persons with visual disabilities.
He further emphasised the importance of building an inclusive and caring society that does not marginalise persons with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments.
During the ceremony, Hazzem also presented a contribution of RM1,000 to support the organisation’s ongoing programmes. The event was also attended by the Superintendent of Cahaya Park, Ibrahim Abd. Hamid.
The ceremony concluded with Hazzem officially declaring the Postal Appeal campaign launched, expressing hope that the initiative would achieve its objectives and that all planned programmes by the organisation would run smoothly.
