KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is gearing up to host its biggest marketplace yet, as the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) unveils BigSabah Sale 2025, a three-day mega event that will showcase local talent, attract international participation, and position the state as a gateway to the East ASEAN region.
The event will be held from 31 October to 2 November.
Organising Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of SICC, Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki, said the event, now in its third year, has grown from a simple platform for SMEs into a regional marketplace that embodies Sabah’s collaborative spirit.
“BigSabah Sale is more than just a fair. It is where learning, sharing, and connecting happen – not in isolation, but together,” she said at a press conference here.
Covering an area of 23,000 square metres, the three-day event will feature exhibitions, culinary experiences, cultural showcases, and community programmes. This year, the “Sabah Day Tamu” will be integrated into the event under the new banner “BigSabah Tamu”, providing farmers, producers, and artisans with a wider platform to showcase their harvests, handmade goods, and cultural traditions.
With participation from nine countries, organisers are targeting 50,000 to 100,000 visitors. Rosmawati expressed confidence that attendance will exceed expectations, citing strong support from strategic partners and the diversity of activities lined up.
Held under the theme “Across Markets, Beyond Borders”, the event seeks to establish Sabah as an international gateway to the East ASEAN region.
Earlier this year, BigSabah Sale 2024 won the Consumer Exhibition Excellence Award, while the “Be in Sabah 2025” initiative was recognised with the Congress and Conference Excellence Award at the Malaysia Business Events Awards.
Rosmawati described these achievements as proof of Sabah’s ability to deliver events of global quality while staying rooted in its unique culture and community.
“At SICC, our role goes beyond providing a venue. We curate opportunities, build partnerships, and nurture ideas that allow Sabah to shine,” she said.
“BigSabah Sale reflects who we are, resourceful, resilient, and ready to embrace opportunities beyond our borders.”
