KOTA KINABALU: An unemployed man who was charged with committing sexual offences against his stepdaughter will have his case re-mention on November 16 for further e-review.
Sessions Court judge, Elsie Primus set the date on the 32-year-old man pending the status of his representation letter.
Previously on March 6, last year, the man had claimed trial to a charge framed under Section 377CA of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.
He allegedly inserted his finger into the 16-year-old’s private part at a house in a village of Penampang on January 26, 2019 at 11pm.
In an unrelated case, the same court fixed December 2 to further mention the case of a 24-year-old unemployed man charged with having and planting a cannabis tree.
The court fixed the date on the case in view of the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
Nicklen was accused of committing the offence in a room of a house at Kampung Bahang, Jalan Hungab Nosoob, Penampang on August 19, this year at 2.40pm.
He faces a charge framed under Section 6B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 6B(3) of the same Act which carries a life time jail sentence and six strokes of the cane, if convicted. –NEDM/ New Sabah Times
