TAWAU: The Ultra Turasan Solar-Powered Clean Water Treatment Technology System project implemented in Kampung Brantian will bring significant benefits to the local community.
Sebatik State Assemblyman, Datuk Hassan A Gani Pg Amir, stated that the project is part of the Malaysia Social Innovation Initiative (MylS Komuniti), an initiative under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM).
He mentioned that the programme has been running since 2015 until 2020 and continued from 2021 to the present.
"The State Government welcomes this project, with Kampung Brantian selected as the first recipient in Sabah, benefiting village residents," he said during the project launch on Saturday.
He added that the initiative by MOSTI and YIM aims to apply technology to meet social needs.
With the theme "Bringing Science to the People, Humanising Technology," the project's objective is to enhance community welfare through the application of locally developed technology and innovation that can be implemented sustainably.
"This aligns with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2024 - 2025 development roadmap in the element of 'Infrastructure Networking and Green Sustainability,'" he emphasised.
Hassan expressed his hope that the residents of Kampung Brantian will make optimal use of the Water Treatment Technology System for the common good, with attention from village leaders and officials from the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) of the Sebatik constituency.
He is confident that with strong support from all parties, this project will continue to provide lasting benefits to the local community.
"Today's success is proof that with determination, cooperation, and commitment, we can achieve our aspirations."
"I hope this project can serve as an example for other initiatives. Let us work together to ensure the sustainability of this project for the welfare of both the current and future generations," he added.
Hassan also expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in the project, including UITM, SIRIM, PERASA, and the contractors, for their efforts in providing this technology system by selecting Kampung Brantian as the first recipient in Sabah.
