KOTA KINABALU: The State Government continues to welcome foreign investors, particularly from the People’s Republic of China, to explore strategic investment opportunities in Sabah to spur economic growth and promote sustainable development.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said Sabah has vast potential across several key sectors, including the oil and gas industry, energy, the blue economy, tourism, modern agriculture and green technology-related industries.

He said investment collaboration with China is expected to bring mutual benefits, particularly in terms of technology transfer, job creation and the development of local economic value chains.

“Sabah always welcomes foreign investors who are interested in investing in the state, as there are many promising economic sectors that can be jointly explored and developed sustainably over the long term,” he said.

He said this when receiving a courtesy call from the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Dr Zhu Xinglong, accompanied by his officers, at his office at Menara Kinabalu on Thursday.

During the meeting, Hajiji also expressed hope that the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu would help promote Sabah as a conducive investment destination among the Chinese business community and investors.

Meanwhile, Dr Zhu briefed the Chief Minister on various programmes and activities undertaken by his office to strengthen diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between Sabah and China.

He also invited Hajiji to attend several official functions organised by the Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu next year, in addition to extending an invitation for an official visit to several regions in China to explore broader cooperation opportunities.

Also present was the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun.
