KUALA LUMPUR: The CNY Spring Carnival 2026 returns to Kuala Lumpur with an expanded vision, evolving into a city-wide Chinese New Year cultural celebration. Running from 15 to 25 January at Piazza, Level 3, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the festival is designed for all ages, offering a blend of traditional customs and modern lifestyle experiences.

Organised by Mango Media Sdn. Bhd., co-organised by Attitude Ideology and in collaboration with RedNote’s (XiaoHongShu) annual Chinese New Year campaign, the carnival integrates online and offline engagement.

Visitors can enjoy festive installations, interactive experiences, and cultural showcases, while digital platforms encourage sharing of photos and videos, extending the celebrations beyond the venue and building a growing archive of city-based festive content.

Zheng Xuefang, Minister of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, said: “The Spring Festival is increasingly celebrated around the world, reflecting shared values and friendship. We look forward to leveraging Visit Malaysia 2026 to strengthen cultural ties and deepen practical cooperation.”

Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching noted: “Festive celebrations now extend into online spaces, alongside physical events. Malaysia also recorded 38.3 million international arrivals in the first 11 months of 2025, surpassing Thailand and setting a strong foundation for Visit Malaysia 2026.”

Held under the theme Charming Malaysia, Celebrate CNY in Style, the carnival offers a wide range of experiences, including festive food, markets, lantern displays, XiaohongShu check-in zones, family-friendly activities, and cultural showcases highlighting Malaysia–China exchange. Over 100 artistes, influencers and content creators will amplify the festival online and offline.

The carnival also features the Kidslympic Malaysia Run 2026, a 2.4km parent–child event supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education, allowing participants aged 4 to 12 to earn co-curricular points.

Datuk Ge Yamei, CEO of Mango Media Sdn. Bhd., said: “Our goal is to create a festival that grows year after year through participation and co-creation. Visitors can enjoy meaningful experiences and share them digitally, strengthening CNY Spring Carnival as a recognised cultural signature for Malaysia in alignment with Visit Malaysia 2026.”

The organisers thanked Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Astro, YESBOSS, brand partners and government agencies for their support in transforming the carnival into a city-wide celebration.

The public is invited to experience the festive atmosphere, celebrate the convergence of Malaysian and Chinese cultures, and share the joy of the season from 15 to 25 January 2026 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
