CHERAS: Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras (CAHC), part of Asia OneHealthcare, today officially launched its expanded wing, boosting capacity, facilities, and specialist services to meet rising healthcare demands in Cheras and surrounding areas.
The opening was officiated by Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, Deputy Health Minister, highlighting the vital need to enhance access and capacity in fast-growing urban communities. Joining her were Puan Engku Marina Engku Hatim, CAHC’s Regional Chief Executive Officer, and Dr Chan Boon Kheng, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Asia OneHealthcare.
This timely expansion addresses surging pressures from population growth, an ageing demographic, and complex health conditions in developing areas like Cheras and nearby townships.

“In a fast-growing community like Cheras, timely access to quality healthcare matters more than ever. This expansion is not just about increasing capacity, but about strengthening our ability to respond to more complex needs, support earlier intervention, and deliver better outcomes for the communities we serve,” said Puan Engku Marina.
The new four-storey block, with three additional basement levels, integrates seamlessly with existing facilities to improve patient flow and access. Bed capacity has nearly doubled from 78 to 180, including three extra isolation beds, 56 new single rooms, and eight beds in the Ambulatory Surgical Care Unit. Specialist clinics have grown, alongside a dedicated Health Screening Centre for preventive care and early detection—serving Cheras Selatan, Balakong, Sungai Long, Kajang, Seri Kembangan, Serdang, Putrajaya, and Cyberjaya. A Dialysis Centre is also underway, set to open by the end of 2026.
Clinical expertise has advanced with high-demand subspecialties such as neurosurgery, gynae-oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, hand and microsurgery, orthopaedic trauma, and breast and endocrine surgery, meeting the call for specialised community care.

Marking Columbia Asia’s 30 years in Malaysia, this milestone underscores the group’s ongoing growth, investment in preventive care, health awareness, and community outreach.
“As we celebrate 30 years serving Malaysian communities, this expansion shows how Columbia Asia evolves to meet changing needs. It’s not just infrastructure, it’s a long-term commitment to accessible, trusted care,” said Dr Chan Boon Kheng.
Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras now stands stronger as a Klang Valley cornerstone, delivering high-quality care closer to home for individuals, families, and businesses.
