KOTA KINABALU: Agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) need to collaborate with the state government to implement entrepreneurship programmes.

It's Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said that MEDAC agencies should not operate independently in Sabah to avoid any conflicts.

"This is to ensure that the target groups receive appropriate benefits and that no one is left behind from these benefits.

"Today, we have 21 agencies participating in this committee, and this number will be increased from time to time in the future," he said during the meeting of the Sabah State Entrepreneurship Development Coordination Committee (EDCCS) here today.

He said the establishment of this committee will

assist the target groups, especially small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.

Ewon also expressed gratitude to the Sabah state government for agreeing to establish the committee, which involves all central and state government agencies, especially those involved in entrepreneurial development.

"The same committee is also established in Sarawak, and I believe that with the existence of this committee, both states and the central government can strengthen cooperation... unlike before, when they operated independently in implementing programmes mandated under their respective agencies," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, stated that the established initiative is a commendable effort for the development of all entrepreneurs in Sabah, particularly the youth.

He emphasised the importance of all central and state agencies coming together and coordinating to find approaches that facilitate entrepreneurs in enhancing their respective businesses.

Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe recognised the need for a collaborative and streamlined approach to support entrepreneurs in Sabah.

The necessary assistance and resources will empower entrepreneurs, especially the youth, in their business endeavours.
