KENINGAU: Compassion is not merely spoken of, but demonstrated through action.
This was the spirit behind an outreach initiative led by the Liawan N.41 Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), together with the Keningau Department of General Welfare Services (JPKA), village heads and JKKK chairmen, who visited storm victims in Kampung Masak, Agudon, Patikang Laut, Bakiau and Limbawan.
The visits sought to identify immediate welfare needs so that assistance could be delivered swiftly, ensuring affected families did not face hardship without support.
Among those present was Amirah Suraip, Assistant Director of JPKA Keningau, who coordinated aid requirements with village leaders and UPPM representatives.

Liawan State Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman emphasised that disasters must be addressed through prompt action rather than empty promises or excuses. He said the presence of leaders alongside the people in times of crisis was a genuine expression of solidarity.

“In every trial, the presence of leaders with the people is proof of togetherness. This is my responsibility, to ensure that Liawan is not only well-managed, but that its people feel supported in both hardship and ease,” he stressed.

“Care must be demonstrated through action. For as long as the people are tested, I will stand with them to find the way forward," Annuar said.
