COVID-19: 41 NEW CASES RECORDED IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: The total of new cases in Sabah rose to 41 from 34 yesterday, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,698.


Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said other districts posted low number where Tawau and Kunak each recorded four new cases, three each in Kota Belud and Papar, and one each in Kota Kinabalu, Kalabakan, Tenom and Kota Marudu.



Meanwhile, a total 18 districts did not report new cases, namely Keningau, Nabawan, Sandakan, Tuaran, Penampang, Putatan, Kudat, Kinabatangan, Tambunan, Beaufort, Semporna, Sipitang, Beluran, Telupid, Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu and Tongod.


"Of the total, 14 cases stemmed from close contacts, seven from symptomatic screening, 17 from new and existing clusters, and three from other categories," he said in a press statement today.


For recovered cases, a total of 82 patients have been discharged today, bringing the tally of recoveries in Sabah to 53,891.



"A total of 390 are still receiving treatment with 167 at the hospitals and 223 in the low risked quarantine treatment centres.


"A total of 26 patients are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 12 of them requiring ventilator support," he said.


Masidi also revealed that two new Covid-19 clusters were detected in Tawau - the Semarak cluster with a cumulative total of six cases, and the Ranggu cluster with eight.
