LAHAD DATU: The Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL) has generously donated 100 food packs to SK Lahad Datu 2 in celebration of Ramadan, exemplifying the spirit of giving during this blessed season.
“This is a simple gesture from BRL to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the well-being of the community,” said Chief Operating Officer Sail Jamaludin.
He explained that the initiative is part of BRL’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, which began in 2021, just before the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Despite the difficulties, the company remained dedicated to continuing this long-term support, emphasising that community engagement is a sustained commitment rather than a one-off effort.
Sail, who visited the school along with Director of Operations Hendry Filames, highlighted that SK Lahad Datu 2 was chosen as a key representative of the district’s student population.
“We hope this small gesture inspires a spirit of giving and kindness that endures beyond Ramadan, fostering a more compassionate community in Lahad Datu,” he said.
As a subsidiary of Yayasan Sabah Group, BRL’s engagement with the local community helps preserve Sabah’s unique cultural identity and heritage.
“By actively participating in local development, we aim to create a vibrant and thriving region that our international visitors feel privileged to experience,” Sail added.
He also expressed the company’s intention to make such programmes a permanent part of its operations.
“Since our first outreach in 2021, we have seen how much these gestures mean to the community. We are already planning ahead for the coming year to expand our outreach and support more groups within the district,” he said.
Additionally, BRL staff visited Sri Pritchard Home in Kinarut to deliver essential supplies to support its elderly residents. Led by CFO Esner Chong and involving around 20 staff members, the visit was part of the company’s CSR efforts to support the home’s needs and bring joy to its residents.
The home’s management expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that such contributions help ease operational costs and ensure residents continue to receive proper care and daily necessities.
