KOTA KINABALU: More close contacts detected positive for Covid-19 reflects that the level of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) among the community is low, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.
In a statement today, he said 73 per cent of the new cases reported in Sabah today were among close contacts.
"In terms of control aspects conducted by the Sabah State Health Department, more close contacts can be traced and screened and subsequently subjected to quarantine.
"This step is better because it can help break the Covid-19 chain immediately," he said.
Today, Sabah recorded a total of 263 new cases, with 192 cases stemming from close contact screening.
A total of 41 cases stemmed from screening of symptomatic individuals, eight from new and existing clusters, two from screeening of hostel students and 20 from various categories.
