KOTA KINABALU: Two new Covid-19 clusters linked to Hari Raya celebration were registered in Sabah today with a cumulative total of 31 positive cases.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the clusters are known as Sungai Pukul cluster in Tawau and Kauran-Durok cluster in Keningau.

"The index case of the Sungai Pukul cluster is a 63-year-old housewife who exhibited symptoms on May 18 and tested positive in the district hospital on May 22.

"Close contact screening found 17 more positive cases among her family members," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Masidi stated that the Kauran-Durok cluster involved a case in Selangor which was detected in Serdang Hospital on May 24.

"The index case is a 30-year-old woman who returned to Sabah for Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday from May 12-22.

"Following the detection, targeted screening on 31 close contacts found 12 of them to have tested positive for Covid-19 - four cases from Kg Kauran and eight from Kg Durok Baru," he said.

Close contact tracing is still being conducted for both of the clusters,
