COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 115 NEW CASES, 94 RECOVERIES


2 May 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's Covid-19 cases have gone up to three digits, with 115 new infections recorded today. The cumulative total of statewide cases now stands at 58,315, said the state's official Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun. Of the total, 50 were detected in existing clusters, 49 were close contacts, 13 cases were detected through symptomatic screening, and the rest in other categories. "Kinabatangan recorded the highest number of new cases with 28, followed by Kota Kinabalu (25), Tawau (20), and Tuaran (nine). “Kunak, Lahad Datu and Kalabakan each have six new cases, while Papar has five, Penampang has four, Sandakan has three, Semporna has two, and Putatan has one. "Meanwhile, Kota Belud, Nabawan, Telupid, Kudat, Keningau, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Ranau, Beluran, Sipitang, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu and Tongod did not report any cases," he said in a statement today. The state also saw 94 patients recovered and discharged, bringing the tally of recoveries to 56,958, according to Masidi. However, 677 patients are still receiving treatment with 276 at hospitals and 401 at quarantine centres. "Thirty-seven of the patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 15 require ventilator support."
