Covid-19: Sabah records 18 deaths, record high of 2,413 new cases

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah registered a shocking number of Covid-19 deaths today with 18, while continues to record a staggering caseload with 2,413 today.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said close contacts remain the major contributor to Sabah's Covid-19 caseload with more than 58 per cent or 1,410 of the total cases recorded today.
He who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah noted that the number today has pushed the cumulative total of statewide infections to 111,346.
“The total cases today also include a backlog screening of 258 cases or 10.7 per cent of the cumulative case,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Masidi also mentioned that 2,389 of the total cases either had mild or no symptoms at all.
He stated that a total of 810 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 91,166.
The number of active cases now stands at 5,258 with 3,958 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,246 at hospitals, and the rest in temporary detention centres.
"To date, there are 159 patients currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with 65 of them ventilated,” he added.
