COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 199 NEW CASES, SIX DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 199 new Covid-19 cases, lower than yesterday’s 248 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 67,177.


However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said six more deaths related to the virus were also reported today one each in Sandakan, Kunak, Putatan, Papar, Lahad Datu, and Kota Belud.


"Of the total cases, 91 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 61 were detected through cluster screening, 27 through symptomatic screening, five through targeted screening and 15 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases with 36 followed by Kinabatangan (25), Tawau (19), Putatan (16), Nabawan (15), Kudat and Papar (13), Lahad Datu and Penampang (10), Beaufort (nine), Tongod (eight), Sandakan (six), Keningau (five), Semporna and Telupid (four), Kunak (three), Kota Marudu, Sipitang and Tambunan (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Kota Belud, Tuaran, Kalabakan, Kuala Penyu, Ranau, Pitas, Tenom and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,856 with 512 treated at hospitals and 1,342 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 86 with 26 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 253 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 64,354.
