COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 271 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 271, an increase of 20 cases compared to yesterday’s 251, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 72,313.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total cases today, 145 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 69 were detected through cluster screening, 32 through symptomatic screening, 18 from targeted screening and seven from other categories.

“Beaufort recorded the highest cases with 70 followed by Kota Kinabalu (61), Tawau (24), Putatan (19), Keningau (18), Sandakan (17), Kudat (16), Pitas (14), Penampang (12), Papar (five), Lahad Datu (four),Kota Belud, Kalabakan, and Ranau (three), Tuaran (two).


“Districts that did not record any cases today are Tongod, Kota Marudu, Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Kinabatangan, Semporna, Kunak, Nabawan, Tambunan, Tenom, Telupid, and Beluran," he said in a statement today.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,911 with 393 treated at hospitals, 1,501 in quarantine centres and 17 in detention centres.

"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 52 with 17 requiring ventilator support," he stated.

As for recoveries, a total of 271 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 69,351.
