COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 273 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 273 new Covid-19 cases, lower than yesterday’s 335 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 66,316.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said one more death related to the virus was also reported today in Beaufort.


"Of the total cases, 146 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 78 were detected through cluster screening, 25 through targeted screening, 16 through symptomatic screening and eight from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of cases with 86 followed by Tawau (43), Kudat (41), Sandakan (23), Beaufort (17), Penampang (13), Papar and Semporna (eight), Kalabakan (seven), Tuaran (five), Lahad Datu and Kunak (four), Kota Belud, Nabawan and Kinabatangan (three), Telupid, and Sipitang (2), and Keningau (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Putatan, Tongod, Ranau, Kota Marudu, Pitas, Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Tenom, and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 2,044 with 527 treated at hospitals and 1,517 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 96 with 39 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 390 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 63,236.
