COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 50 NEW CASES, 47 RECOVERIES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 50 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,259.


In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 17 of the cases stemmed from close contact screening, four from symptomatic screening, 26 from new and existing clusters, one from targeted screening and two from other categories.



Keningau recorded the highest number of new cases with 23, followed by Tawau (11), Kota Kinabalu and Kalabakan with four, Kota Belud and Tuaran with two, and one case each recorded in Putatan, Sandakan, Penampang and Kunak.


A total of 17districts did not record new cases, namely Lahad Datu, Telupid, Sipitang, Tambunan, Nabawan, Tenom, Kudat, Kinabatangan, Kota Marudu, Papar, Beaufort, Beluran, Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna and Tongod.

"A total of 47 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 53,360 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah.

"However, 361 patients are still receiving treatment with 142 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi.


He added that 18 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including five requiring ventilator support.
