TAMBUNAN: The State Government, through the Internal Affairs and Research Office (PHEDN&P) of the Chief Minister’s Department, has distributed special assistance totalling RM57,250 to support teachers affected by the fire at the Pekan Tambunan State Religious School (SAN).
The Deputy Secretary of PHEDN&P, Mohd Rizan Abran, presented the cash assistance at a ceremony held at the Tambunan District Office on Tuesday.
Mohd Rizan said the assistance was intended to ease the burden on affected teachers who lost various teaching equipment and personal belongings in the fire on 12 October last year.
He noted that the incident not only damaged part of the school’s facilities but also destroyed teaching materials, electronic equipment and personal property belonging to the teachers.
“The State Government is concerned about the difficulties faced by the victims and hopes this special assistance will help them replace essential items and teaching equipment,” he said.
Among the recipients was the school’s headmaster, Ahmad Subri Janing, who lost a laptop and teaching materials.
Several other teachers also received assistance after losing teaching and learning (PdP) materials, files, reference books, audio equipment such as speakers, and personal items, including household appliances and vehicles.
