KOTA KINABALU: All of the three Covid-19 death cases reported today were all recorded in Sabah, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The death cases were each recorded in Tawau Hospital, Sandakan Duchess of Kent Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The death cases involved two men – local and non-local – and a local woman, whom all aged between 52 and 85.

“The total number of Covid-19 fatalities in Malaysia now stand at 190, which also translates to 0.9 per cent fatality rate,” said Noor Hisham in a press conference, Monday.

He also added that 99 patients are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 32 requiring ventilator support.

Meanwhile, two more new clusters were identified today – Hentian Cluster in Selangor and Bukit Cluster in Melaka.

“Hentian Cluster involved Hulu Langat district in Selangor. The index case of the cluster tested positive after a symptomatic individual screening on Oct 15 was then admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

“Close contact tracing has identified six more positive cases. As of Oct 19, a total of 127 individuals have been screened with seven tested positive and 120 pending test result,” said Noor Hisham.

For Bukit Cluster, it involved three districts – Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin – in Melaka.

“The index case of this cluster tested positive after a symptomatic individual screening on Oct 13. The patient was then warded in Melaka Hospital.

“Close contact tracing has identified 14 more positive cases, and as of Monday a total of 89 individuals have been screened. Fifteen tested positive, 73 tested negative, and one more individual is still waiting for the test result,” he said.
