KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Chief, Chan Loong Wei, has lodged an official police report over a fake letter circulating on social media, reaffirming that DAP Sabah Chairman, Phoong Jin Zhe, has never written any letter to the Chief Minister.

Chan explained that a fabricated “letter” has been spreading online, falsely suggesting that Phoong had written to the Chief Minister to recommend party members for government appointments.

He stressed that these allegations are entirely baseless. DAP firmly reiterates that, since the conclusion of the election, the party has neither issued any letter to the Chief Minister nor made any proposal relating to government positions.

He pointed out that the document in question appears to be a photograph taken of a computer screen, dated 5 December, and bears no signature, official stamp, or party letterhead, clear indicators that it is neither authentic nor official.

Chan also noted that DAP Sabah convened a meeting on the night of 7 December, during which the party once again reaffirmed its decision not to join the Sabah government, a position unanimously agreed upon by the Sabah leadership.

He said DAP Sabah will continue to return to the grassroots, serving the people consistently and sincerely, and rebuilding public trust through genuine community engagement.

Chan urged the public not to circulate unverified documents. He added that Phoong Jin Zhe had already taken political responsibility immediately after the election, and that it is evident he has not been appointed to any position.

Phoong remains committed to moving forward and serving the people; the public, he said, should likewise look ahead and refrain from engaging in unnecessary political speculation or hostility.

Chan emphasised that DAP will steadfastly uphold its people-centric principles, remain unswayed by misinformation, and continue moving forward with determination in service to the public.
