KOTA KINABALU: The highly anticipated 10th Sabah FCAS International Dragon Boat Race 2025 is just around the corner, and the festivities kick off with a vibrant Sunset Beach Party at Likas Bay on the evening of 16th May.

This welcoming event, designed to embrace and celebrate the participating teams, will serve as a lively curtain-raiser for the main race action, which is set to commence with full force on 17th May. The entire event is meticulously organised by the dedicated team at the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), under the distinguished chairmanship of Tan Sri T.C. Goh.

Adding a touch of official presence to the proceedings, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Christina Liew, has been cordially invited to attend the beach gathering.

Looking ahead to the competition, Liew expressed her keen hope that this year's dragon boat race, a thrilling spectacle featuring 11 distinct categories of competition, will draw an even greater number of international teams to Sabah's shores compared to last year's participation.

Notably, it was, in fact, her insightful suggestion to strategically bring the race forward from its traditional June slot to May. This thoughtful scheduling ensures the event beautifully coincides with the vibrant and culturally rich month-long Pesta Kaamatan celebration, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

The excitement will build to a grand crescendo on 18th May, when the Head of State Tun Musa Aman is expected to grace the event and officially open the exhilarating final race, marking the culmination of the competition.
