KOTA BELUD: Datuk Ewon Benedick, President of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), and Carlye Lajimin, Deputy Division Chief of UPKO Kota Belud, were each elected unopposed to the positions of Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief respectively in the party elections for the 2026–2029 term.

The results see both leaders continue to be mandated by party members to steer the division for the coming term.

Ewon, who is also Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, said the confidence shown by division members would be translated into ongoing efforts to strengthen the party and to champion the people’s development agenda.

He also expressed his gratitude to all members for their continued support and commitment to UPKO’s cause in Kota Belud, especially in Kadamaian.

“I thank all UPKO Kota Belud members for the trust placed in me."

“This mandate will be used to its fullest to fortify the party and to ensure the people’s voices continue to be championed,” he said after UPKO Kota Belud’s Triennial General Meeting at Kadamaian Square here today.

Meanwhile, Carlye, who is also Political Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister III, said she would continue to work closely with the division leadership to ensure UPKO Kota Belud remains relevant and able to meet the aspirations of the people.

The UPKO Kota Belud elections for the 2026–2029 term were conducted in a harmonious atmosphere and reflected a spirit of unity among party members in the division.
