MELAKA: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick will continue to support the cultural program organised by the Sabah Sarawak Students' Association (PMASS) of Universiti Teknical Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).

Ewon a former UTeM student and PMASS organiser agreed to channel a donation of RM30,000 to make the Rumamai Festival organised by PMASS UTeM a success.

The event will be held on 1 and 2 December.

"This is my responsibility as a UTeM alumni and also one of the founders of PMASS. I am concerned about the application and needs of PMASS because I have also been through a similar situation once upon a time when I was in the leadership of PMASS.

"I also hope that the leadership of PMASS strives to complete the requirements to make this festival a success," he said when speaking in conjunction with a working visit to UTeM, here, yesterday.

In 2019, Ewon who was then the Sabah Rural Development Minister made a donation to PMASS to make the UTeM Cultural Arts Stage Night a success.

Regarding entrepreneurship, Ewon said, the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) also agreed to allocate a sum of RM50,000 to develop kiosks and other equipment through the UTeM Student Cooperative.

During a working visit to UTeM, Ewon witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SME Corp and UTeM.

Ewon later visited UTeM's Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ITK) and agreed to channel an allocation of RM20,000 to improve the facilities and equipment at the Student Common Room at ITK.
