KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick welcomes the 2021 Sabah State Level Kaamatan Committee's efforts to hold peace ceremonies among the community.

"A few days ago, I was informed that the implementation of peace, healing and balancing customary event of the universe, which is a new filling of this year's state-level Kaamatan celebration, will be held starting in Kg Kiau, Kadamaian.

"I was told that it is about efforts to strengthen harmony among the community and between the community and the universe. When it comes to peace, then it is something that I will welcome and that is why I agreed to attend this event, he said during the event in Kiau Nuluh here, on Saturday.

Ewon also expressed his appreciation towards the committee for choosing to hold the traditional event starting in Kg Kiau.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah cum Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan as the Kaamatan Main Committee chairman for this year.

The event was introduced for the first time as part of the state-level Kaamatan celebration.

He said: "Not only can the efforts be carried out through traditional rituals, but can also be implemented by churches, religions, and academics."

"Differences in leadership and political parties are normal but when it comes to managing the people and the country, we can formulate many things through reconciliation efforts between leaders and fellow communities.

"We can forge cooperation and agreement for the good of the people while sticking to each other's leadership principles," said the vice president of Upko.
