PAITAN: The damage to Tangkarason Health Clinic caused by recent floods will be raised with the relevant authorities for urgent action.
The Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing (KWKKR), Datuk Julita Majungki said this during a working visit to the remote clinic on Friday.
Julita highlighted the pressing need to upgrade healthcare facilities in rural areas following the flooding.

“I have discussed the damage with the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS), and the needs of this clinic will be prioritised to ensure necessary support is provided,” she said.
Julita explained that the assistance offered during the visit aimed to address the clinic’s most urgent needs following the floods.
“The contributions today are intended to meet immediate requirements while further aid is being organised,” she added.

She also presented food supplies, medical equipment, and essential items to Beluran Area Health Officer, Dr Nafsah Dulajis, including donations from the Hospital Queen Elizabeth Welfare and Social Club.
The visit was attended by JKNS Director, Dr William Gotulis, along with department officials and representatives from the Beluran District Health Office.
Julita praised the dedication of healthcare staff at the clinic, noting their resilience despite being cut off during the floods.
“I was told the clinic was isolated during the floods, yet the staff supported each other and continued their duties. I commend your resilience and commitment,” she said.
She also commended Dr Nafsah for managing a vast and remote service area.
“Overseeing such a large area in a remote location is no small feat,” she remarked.
Julita added that the state government continues to advocate for Sabah’s healthcare needs at national platforms, including the Cabinet Health Committee and discussions under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“The Sabah government remains committed to upgrading facilities, bringing services closer to the standards enjoyed elsewhere in the country,” she concluded.
The Tangkarason Health Clinic serves a wide rural catchment area in northern Sabah, with the nearest towns several hours away by road.
