KOTA KINABALU: In the aftermath of the heavy downpour that has been pounding Sabah since yesterday, 464 people hailing from 166 families have been evacuated to two relief centres (PPS) in Kota Marudu and Tongod districts.

According to the Sabah Disaster Management Committee's Secretariat, 377 individuals from 149 families have sought refuge at the Kota Marudu Community Hall PPS, while 87 individuals from 17 families have been evacuated to the PPS at Dewan Mini Kampung Simpang Entilibon in Tongod.

The evacuation centres opened last night, providing temporary shelter to those who were affected by the flooding.

While the downpour has caused havoc in some areas of Tongod and Kota Marudu, the weather this morning was reported to be stable in most parts of Sabah.

The Department of Meteorology Malaysia has issued a forecast that predicts sporadic rains in one or two locations in Sabah from tonight until tomorrow.
