Former Sabah TYT Sakaran Dandai succumbs to Covid-19

KOTA KINABALU: Former Head of State (TYT) of Sabah Tun Sakaran Dandai, 91, has passed away from Covid-19 at a private hospital here, at 5.30am this morning.


He was laid to rest at 11.55am this morning at Makam Pahlawan Masjid Negeri by a team of staff from the Ministry of Health (SOP) according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).


Sakaran who was warded for Covid-19 at the intensive care unit (ICU) since Aug 19 left behind 12 children and 60 grandchildren.


He was the eighth chief minister of Sabah in 1994 and was the head of state from 1995 to 2003 before retiring.
