BINGKOR: Local residents have once again voiced serious concerns over the condition of the , which is reportedly prone to collapse whenever heavy rain occurs, despite having undergone several rounds of repairs previously.
Based on community observations, the road structure at the affected location sustains damage each time there is prolonged rainfall. Although repair works are carried out, the same problem recurs when subsequent heavy rain sets in.
Community spokesperson for Bingkor and Chairman of the Bingkor Community Welfare Association, Haji Yazid Haji Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, said the situation is deeply worrying as the road serves as a main route for residents’ daily use, day and night.

“Each time it rains, this road collapses. After repairs are completed, it is damaged again when the next downpour arrives. This shows that the underlying issue has yet to be comprehensively addressed and requires serious attention from the relevant authorities,” he said.
He added that the situation not only disrupts the smooth flow of traffic, but also poses potential accident risks to road users, including students, workers and emergency vehicles that rely on the route every day.
In this regard, the community has urged the (JKR) to give immediate attention to the issue by carrying out a thorough technical inspection, slope stabilisation works, drainage system improvements and regular maintenance to ensure the road’s long-term durability.
“Residents of Bingkor hope that prompt action and a comprehensive solution can be implemented, as the latest collapse clearly demonstrates a recurring problem that requires decisive intervention for the safety and well-being of road users,” he stressed.
