KOTA KINABALU: ‘The V by Jesselton’ marks an exciting new chapter for Sabah, embodying our shared vision to create a more vibrant, attractive, and globally connected destination. This ambitious development underscores our commitment to enhancing Sabah’s urban landscape and fostering sustainable growth, positioning the state as a premier hub for tourism and investment.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens on Monday, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Datuk Seri Christina Liew emphasised that this project is not only a significant step forward for Kota Kinabalu’s development but also a meaningful contribution to Sabah’s broader economic and tourism landscape.
"With its modern, integrated concept comprising three blocks of commercial short-stay condominiums, a corporate office tower, and a new retail experience – all fronting the breathtaking Likas seafront – 'The V' is set to become a premier destination for both locals and international visitors.
What makes 'The V' particularly timely and relevant is its alignment with the 'Sabah My Second Home' (SM2H) programme. We believe this project will attract not only domestic interest but also foreign investors and long-stay tourists seeking high-quality living spaces in a serene yet strategic location," Liew said.
The Minister, also Chair of the State SM2H Committee, highlighted that developments like ‘The V’ are about more than just buildings; they are about building communities, creating opportunities, and elevating Sabah’s status as a world-class destination.
"I commend Jesselton International Group for their vision and confidence in investing in Sabah’s future. Your contribution plays a vital role in supporting our tourism ambitions and economic growth.
To all stakeholders involved – thank you for your dedication. Let us look forward to the successful realisation of this landmark project, which will undoubtedly serve as a shining example of modern Sabah hospitality and development," she added.
Liew also pointed out that Sabah continues to grow as an international destination, with direct air connectivity from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and West Malaysia.
"This connectivity, coupled with our rich natural beauty, cultural diversity, and expanding infrastructure, offers tremendous potential to attract long-term visitors and new residents alike," she concluded.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony.
