KUALA LUMPUR: HopeGoo, a comprehensive travel app initially launched in Mainland China and Hong Kong, has officially announced its arrival in Malaysia. Guided by its mission to "Make Travel Easier and Happier," HopeGoo offers Malaysians a more convenient way to book affordable flights and hotels, with multilingual support.

HopeGoo’s flagship "Your Travel Companion" service – a 24/7 one-on-one WhatsApp Butler – can be activated by downloading the app and contacting in-app customer support. From trip planning to on-the-go assistance abroad, Your Travel Companion simplifies every stage of the travel experience, allowing travellers to focus on the enjoyment rather than the hassle. Currently tailored for tourists visiting China, the service will soon expand to include more destinations.

Having served millions of users across Mainland China and Hong Kong over the past two years, HopeGoo is now expanding its travel services across Asia as part of its growth strategy.

Malaysia was chosen as one of HopeGoo’s key markets due to the longstanding outbound travel links with China, alongside regional favourites such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. The close tourism and cultural ties between Malaysia and China provide a strong foundation for HopeGoo’s local expansion.

The launch also coincides with peak travel seasons such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and school holidays. According to Tourism Malaysia’s Outbound and Domestic Travel Behaviour Report 2023, 91% of Malaysians travel overseas for leisure. This ongoing demand presents a significant opportunity for HopeGoo to support Malaysia–China travel flows.

"As we introduce HopeGoo to Malaysian travellers, our priority is to ensure the experience aligns with how Malaysians plan, book, and travel abroad," said Kent Chin, Apps User Growth Senior Manager, HopeGoo Malaysia. "Beyond competitive pricing, travellers value peace of mind when abroad. With our 24/7 support, HopeGoo aims to make travel simpler, more reliable, and more rewarding, providing timely assistance at every stage of the journey."

Just one year after its launch in Hong Kong, HopeGoo became one of the most popular travel apps on the Hong Kong App Store. This success reinforces our confidence in delivering the same customer-focused experience to Malaysian travellers.

HopeGoo’s expansion is supported by its parent company, Tongcheng Travel, which formed a strategic partnership with Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in 2023 to explore inbound tourism development.

"Focusing on local users while connecting broader travel experiences has always been our guiding principle," said Yu Chi Xiao, Group Vice President of Tongcheng Travel. "With over 20 years of industry expertise, HopeGoo has developed robust technology, resources, and services, supported by strong partnerships and proprietary AI systems to aid localisation efforts."

In Malaysia, the company remains committed to a "built for local users" approach. Believing in the long-term potential of Malaysia’s travel market, HopeGoo will continue to evolve its products and services from a local perspective, aiming to become travellers’ trusted companion and to deliver a warmer, more comprehensive travel experience.

New users can enjoy 90% off Asia-wide eSIM packages, capped at RM20, with the first 100 redemptions each day. Additionally, they can receive RM50 off flights, 7% off hotel bookings (applicable for Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other regions worldwide), and RM5 off train tickets, subject to availability. Referring friends also rewards users with 100 G-Coins in-app credits for each successful invite, while friends receive 1,000 G-Coins upon sign-up.
