TENOM: The Semarak Ramadan Programme for the Melalap State Constituency, themed “Fragrant Compassion, Gracious Deeds”, has been organised to strengthen religious activities and community welfare initiatives ahead of the month of Ramadan.
The programme also saw a contribution of RM20,000 presented to the Tenom District Dakwah Fund.
The contribution was handed over by the Melalap State Assemblyman, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, and received by the Chairman of the Tenom District Dakwah Body, Dr Zulasri Pitting, who is also the Assistant District Officer of Tenom.
In addition, Imarah Ramadan assistance was distributed to 11 mosques, 18 suraus and two tahfiz madrasahs within the Melalap constituency.
Jamawi, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, expressed hope that the assistance would support mosque and surau committees in organising various programmes throughout Ramadan, including worship activities, welfare initiatives and efforts to enliven the houses of worship.
He also conveyed his hope that the initiative would benefit the local community and foster a stronger spirit of unity among residents.
“May this assistance help all mosques and suraus in carrying out their programmes throughout Ramadan,” he said at the event, which was held at the open hall of Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Chinta Mata here today.
Also present was the Melalap Community Development Leader, Denesly Justin.
Following the programme, Jamawi conducted visits to families who had recently lost loved ones, offering moral support and conveying his condolences and sympathy in Kampung Tuan and Kampung Pulong.
