KOTA KINABALU: INSKEN, the progressive agency dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs in Malaysia, has opened its second branch in Sarawak following the launch of its first branch in Sabah in May earlier this year.

Datuk Ewon Benedick Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development launched the establishment at INSKEN Campus Sarawak, today.

During the event he stated that the establishment of INSKEN Sarawak was in line with the organisation's efforts to strengthen the entrepreneurial landscape in the region.

"INSKEN has been recognised for its proactive approach in empowering entrepreneurs throughout Malaysia," he stated adding that the decision to expand to Sarawak demonstrated that geographical location wasn't a hindrance for entrepreneurs in the state to expand their businesses.

The Ministry and relevant agencies have always been attentive to the needs of entrepreneurs, as evidenced by the recent dialogue session held with industry players from Sabah and Sarawak, the Minister stressed.

According to him, suggestions were given, including the importance of providing more entrepreneurship training not only for cooperatives but also for small, micro, and informal entrepreneurs in Sabah and Sarawak.

"As a result, INSKEN has now established its presence in both states, further assisting entrepreneurs in their endeavours."

"INSKEN offers a wide range of training programs and guidance for entrepreneurs, including the highly successful Program I (Program I) which focuses on business development and enhancement. With the establishment of INSKEN Sarawak, local entrepreneurs will have greater access to these valuable resources, positioning them for success in the dynamic business landscape of the region."

"As of August 2023, INSKEN has successfully trained a total of 7,418 entrepreneurs, surpassing its target for the year 2023. I hope that with the opening of this branch, more entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in Sarawak will seize the opportunity to participate in the training and mentoring programs provided by INSKEN."

The expansion of INSKEN to Sarawak was another milestone in the organisation's mission to empower entrepreneurs and foster an entrepreneurial participation across Malaysia, he said.

"Local entrepreneurs in Sarawak can now seize the opportunities and support provided by INSKEN to propel their businesses to greater heights, contributing to the overall economic growth and development of the state."
