Jamawi Visits Tenom Evacuation Centres, Flood Aid Delivered

TENOM: Three evacuation centres were visited by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry and Melalap State Assemblyman, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, late last night.
He visited and inspected the Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) for flood victims in the district at Kampung Ponontomon Cultural Hall PPS, Kampung Pantongan Saga Cultural Hall PPS and Kampung Mandalom Lama Cultural Hall PPS.
According to Jamawi, the three centres were opened at 3pm the day before yesterday by the Tenom District Disaster Management Committee, chaired by Tenom District Officer Alexander Liew, to accommodate flood victims.

“Initial assistance has already been distributed by the Tenom Social Welfare Department, the Tenom Parliamentary Office, the Tenom District Office, the Melalap State Constituency Service Centre, as well as other government agencies,” he said.
He added that the distribution of food baskets and drinking water to all flood victims will continue today.
Jamawi was accompanied during the visit by the Tenom District Officer, the Tenom District Chief, the Deputy District Police Chief, officers from the Tenom Social Welfare Department, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), as well as staff from the Melalap State Constituency Service Centre.
“I deeply sympathise with all those affected by the floods. I hope everyone remains strong and resilient in facing this trial. I will do my utmost to provide assistance,” he said.
