KENINGAU: Keningau Hospital has reinforced its strategic collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Keningau District through a special coordination meeting held today, as a proactive measure to streamline the management of cases involving security, medical and legal aspects in the public interest.


The meeting, held in the Keningau Hospital Meeting Room, was chaired by the Hospital Director, Dr Ridwan Hashim, while PDRM Keningau was led by the District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil anak Garai.


According to a statement from Keningau Hospital, the meeting aimed to enhance operational synergy and coordination in managing clients involving both agencies, particularly to ensure that all procedures are carried out in an orderly, efficient manner and in compliance with established guidelines.


Among the key agenda items discussed was the management of items suspected or confirmed to be prohibited, including procedures for handover, storage and documentation to ensure clarity and integrity.


Forensic case management was also given due attention, with emphasis on coordinating examination procedures, evidence collection and case referrals between the hospital and the police to ensure transparency and accuracy in investigations.


The meeting further addressed the implementation and understanding of the Keningau Hospital Emergency Code, particularly in situations requiring joint action by both agencies to ensure a swift and effective response.


In addition, the management of cases under the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC), involving victims of abuse or violence, was discussed, with emphasis on safeguarding, welfare and justice for victims.


Issues relating to the management of bullying and criminal cases, including reporting procedures and follow-up actions, were also highlighted, alongside improvements in the preparation of medical reports to ensure they are comprehensive, accurate and meet legal requirements.


Through the meeting, both parties agreed to continue strengthening communication, refining work procedures and enhancing professionalism in handling cases involving the public interest.


Keningau Hospital and PDRM Keningau reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration to ensure that case management is conducted smoothly, safely and effectively, in line with their respective responsibilities to safeguard public welfare and security.
