KOTA BELUD: Kampung Tamalang, Taginambur Jaya, and Bukit Bendera are home to approximately 1,000 residents, most of whom are farming families who depend on the land for their livelihoods.
While agriculture remains the backbone of the community, some villagers are also employed in both the private and public sectors.
Today, the spirit of unity and cultural pride was proudly on display as villagers gathered at the local community hall to celebrate the annual Harvest Festival.

The event was officiated by Kadamaian State Assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
During the celebration, Datuk Ewon presented a contribution of RM15,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), represented by its chairman, John Sindiong. The funds are earmarked for much-needed upgrades to the community hall, including the construction of an attached shelter at its entrance area to provide shelter from both sun and rain.
“This contribution is a meaningful gesture from our Assemblyman, and we are truly grateful for his support,” said John.
“The planned improvements will greatly enhance the usability of the community hall, making it more comfortable and accessible for future events and gatherings.”
The community hall serves as a vital hub for the villagers of Kg Tamalang, hosting everything from cultural celebrations to community meetings and development programmes.
The planned upgrades are expected to benefit not only current residents but also future generations, strengthening the social fabric of the village.
Meanwhile, Ewon in his speech, emphasised his commitment to supporting rural development and ensuring that villages like Kg Tamalang receive the necessary infrastructure and resources to thrive.
“I am committed to working alongside local leaders to improve facilities and uplift the quality of life in our kampungs,” he said.
The festive atmosphere, coupled with the promise of development, marked a proud day for Kg Tamalang, one that reflected both the community’s rich heritage and its aspirations for a better future.
During the event food baskets were also presented to 15 individuals.
