KOTA BELUD: As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Koperasi Serbausaha Makmur (KOSMA) has made a significant contribution to the Kadamaian constituency by donating 268 water tanks, which will be distributed among 73 registered villages across the area.

This initiative reflects KOSMA’s continued commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure and improving the quality of life in rural communities.

The tanks were officially handed over to Kadamaian State Assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick, who expressed his gratitude to KOSMA for their generosity.

He praised the organisation, describing it as a model cooperative that other cooperatives across the country should emulate.

Dolois Sumbin, representing the Village Development and Security Committee of Kg Kiau Toburi, also extended his appreciation, noting the positive impact the tanks would have on local residents.

"Priority will be given to senior citizens, orphans, persons with disabilities (OKU), single mothers, and those from the B40 income group," he said.

He thanked both KOSMA for the contribution and Datuk Ewon for his unwavering support of the community.

Faungin Mogirong, Village Head of Kg Kiau Bersatu, welcomed the donation, noting that many villagers still rely on gravity-fed water systems.

“These tanks are extremely helpful, especially during periods of drought,” he said.

Yalip Sarun, Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee for Kg Toguson, shared that the tanks would be allocated to local churches.

“We plan to provide one tank each to our two Seventh-day Adventist churches, and another to the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) church,” he said. He also expressed his sincere thanks to KOSMA and Ewon, who also serves as the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives. He added that the community hopes to eventually gain access to treated piped water.

Meanwhile, Carlye Lajimin, Chief Liaison Officer at the Kadamaian State Assemblyman’s Office, confirmed that the water tanks will be distributed to all 73 registered villages, with each receiving three tanks. He noted that 10 villages have yet to be registered but will be included in the next phase of distribution.

KOSMA Chairman, Dato' Haji Zamri Haji Mohamed, said he hoped the contribution would ease the burden on those most in need.

“By improving water storage and management, we aim to make daily life more sustainable and manageable for rural families,” he said.

This CSR initiative exemplifies how cooperative-led efforts can align with local needs, delivering lasting benefits to communities and supporting Sabah’s wider goals for inclusive and sustainable rural development.
